About the Event
The BBG World Cup is the first-ever global outdoor cooking competition that unites braai masters, grill champions, and barbeque legends from every corner of the planet — competing from their own backyards.
Whether you call it a braai in South Africa, a barbeque in Texas, an asado in Argentina, or a yakiniku in Japan — this is YOUR competition. No travel required. Just fire, food, and fierce passion for outdoor cooking.
Hosted simultaneously across the world on 24–26 September 2026, entrants will grill, photograph, and submit their finest dishes to be ranked locally, nationally, and globally. The stakes? The most prestigious title in outdoor cooking.

Social Category
Open to everyone who loves to cook outdoors. Invite a friend or family member, fire up your grill, and share your creation with the world. Get listed on the global social participant map.
Professional Category
Serious competitors who want to claim glory. Same as Social — but with an independent witness: a religious practitioner who will officially rate your dish. Rankings published nationally and globally.

Professional Category — Witness Judging Form
A Google rating form will be emailed to all Professional entrants 3 days before the event. Your religious witness must complete this form — rating appearance, aroma, taste, texture, and overall impression out of 10 — after enjoying your dish.
(Because we all know a religious person can't lie — and if they do, that's between them and the Almighty! 😇 We just tally the scores.)
Rules & Regulations
The BBG World Cup is simultaneously social and very serious — we're here to determine the best outdoor grillers on the planet. Read carefully and cook to win.
The 2026 BBG World Cup runs from Friday 24 September through Sunday 26 September 2026. Your braai, barbeque, or grill session must take place within these dates.
You may compete from any location of your choice — your home, garden, farm, rooftop, park, or anywhere you have a braai, barbeque, or grill setup. No venue restrictions apply.
Invite at least one friend or family member to join you. During or after the event, upload (a) a photo of your prepared dish and (b) a selfie with your guest(s). Your entry will then appear on the website as a Social Participant for your geographical area.
In addition to a friend or family member, you must invite a recognised religious practitioner as your official independent witness. Accepted witnesses include: a Pastor, Minister or Reverend; a Bishop or Archbishop; a Priest or Father; an Imam, Mullah or Sheikh; a Rabbi; a Monk, Abbot or Nun; a Pandit, Swami or Guru; a Deacon or Elder; or any ordained or recognised spiritual leader within their faith community. Upload your dish photo, a selfie with your guest(s), and a selfie with your witness. (Because we all know a religious person can't lie — and if they do, that's between them and the Almighty! 😇)
The religious practitioner witness must complete an official Google Form (emailed to Professional entrants 3 days before the event) rating multiple aspects of your dish on a scale out of 10. Submission of this form is mandatory for ranking eligibility.
Professional Category rankings will be tallied and published per country. Where sufficient entries are received, regional rankings will also be published. An overall global ranking with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be announced — with the top scorer earning the prestigious title of BBG World Cup Champion.
All published results will use your registered Alias or Nickname — never your real name — to protect your privacy across all public rankings and social media mentions.
The BBG World Cup is completely free to enter. No entry fee is required for either category. All participants are welcome from any country in the world.
